Join us and learn how to use a telescope. This workshop is aimed at people with no previous experience in handling telescopes. Attendees will learn how to assemble and operate a telescope themselves. At the end of the event, we will carry out a certification to allow graduate students to loan telescopes to take home.

We will cover the following topics.

- Types of telescopes and their use
- Parts of a telescope assembly
- Assembling a telescope
- Alignment and star tracking
- Navigating the sky
- Certification

Additionally, we will do a small introduction to photography with DSLRs, so DSLR owners are encouraged to bring their own cameras (currently limited to Nikon and Canon models)

Previous knowledge of astronomy is an asset but not required. We encourage attendees to download and install the following apps on their phones to have a better learning experience:
- Sky Portal by Celestron
- Any Compass and Spirit Level you like.

Hope to see you there!

Please arrive on time.
