Tomorrow you will continue to complete your Divisional Orientation requirements. If you have not already heard from your Graduate Program Coordinator with details related to your division and program requirements, you should reach out to them as soon as possible.
If you have already completed your divisional requirements, there are no other mandatory sessions tomorrow. We suggest using this time to ensure you have completed all pre-orientaion requirements.
Completing Lab Safety Training is required before any student can start work within a research laboratory. Training is offered periodically, but you can get a head start and complete your training now. Please mark your calendar for Thursday, August 26, 9 am – 12 pm.
We will cover the three required safety courses to access KAUST laboratories. There will be a quiz at the end of the session, and attendance is mandatory during the entire session. The training certificate will only be received once you have passed the quiz.
General Laboratory Safety Training covers hazard identification, basic chemical safety, electrical safety, emergency equipment, personal protective equipment, and other laboratory safety topics.
Hazardous Waste Training includes hazardous waste management requirements, roles & responsibilities, and common issues observed.
Emergency Incident Preparedness Training covers emergency services, emergency response, building evacuation, and floor warden roles, among other topics.
This training will be conducted live. Active participation, as if it were a live classroom, will be required
Students should start arriving from 8:45 am for 9 am start time. Late arrivals are not permitted and will result in non-completed training. If you are not working in a lab, you do not need to complete this training.
If the session is fully booked you must email hse@kaust.edu.sa and you will be issued with a Zoom link to join the live session virtually.
