TOWARD NET ZERO
by Dr. Khalid Hazazi
Bio: Dr. Khalid Hazazi works as a research and development engineer at Saudi Aramco’s EXPEC ARC. He received his B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering from Laurentian University, Canada, in 2016. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from KAUST in 2018 and 2022, respectively. He published multiple peer-reviewed papers in high-impact journals including Journal of Membrane Science, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Small Structures and Nature Materials. His research interests are focused on developing sustainable and low-carbon hydrogen energy sources to meet the ambitious plan of net zero.
Talk: The presentation will emphasize Saudi Aramco’s commitment to sustainability, specifically its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050. It will highlight the company's progress in reducing Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, aligned with its ambitious net-zero plan. The presentation will also outline key strategies to meet the company’s 2035 greenhouse gas reduction target, including advancements in carbon capture technologies, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. Additionally, it will provide insights into Aramco’s ongoing research and development projects, with a particular focus on the critical role of low-carbon hydrogen energy in supporting the company’s ambitious net-zero plan.
