Explore how your research can contribute to global challenges by aligning it with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This workshop provides an overview of the SDGs and their targets, along with practical guidance on integrating these global challenges into your academic journey—from formulating research questions to writing your thesis and publishing articles. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with a tool that maps your research to specific SDGs, offering visual insights into how your work supports these critical global goals.
About the speaker
Dr. Rúben Costa is a trained bioscientist, science communicator, and sustainability professional. His scientific career has spanned from applied biomedical projects to fundamental environmental research. He is an advocate for scientific literacy and outreach, and his engagement projects connecting schools to higher education settings have been featured in international media and TEDx. He currently serves as Sustainability Engagement and Performance Lead at KAUST in Saudi Arabia, where he applies his multidisciplinary knowledge and communication skills to enhance sustainability literacy, foster community engagement, lead performance reporting, and advance the university's overall sustainability agenda.
