The world is under pressure to change, and fast. Climate risks, resource limits, and technological disruption are forcing governments, industries, and researchers to rethink how economies grow.

In this seminar, Dr. Ian Campbell will explore how sustainable technologies and strategic partnerships are shaping the future, from clean energy and AI-driven systems to resilient infrastructure and smarter industries.

KAUST and the National Transformation Institute (NTI) are at the heart of this shift. Together, they’re bridging science and real-world solutions, building innovation ecosystems, and backing projects that support Vision 2030 and global economic transformation.

Attendees will get a firsthand look at how innovation, research, and cross-sector collaboration can unlock new opportunities — and why now is the moment to act.

About the speaker

Dr. Ian Campbell is the Senior Vice President of the National Transformation Initiative (NTI)
at KAUST, leading large-scale strategic initiatives including the KAUST Coral Restoration
Initiative, Beacon Development Consultancy, and the newly established Translation Hub.
He also drives the International Hubs initiative, building a global network to expand
KAUST’s reach and foster international collaboration.
Previously, Dr. Campbell served as Executive Chair of Innovate UK, where he secured major
COVID-19 support for UK businesses and led health and life sciences strategy. An
experienced entrepreneur and former CEO in the healthcare sector, he was appointed
Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his services to innovation.
