“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has,” Margaret Mead.

Hello dear beloved advocates of sustainable development,
´Æî
I hope you feel resilient and strong.

It is June! Yes, there are so many opportunities to create a sustainable future ahead of us by acting today. Explore the below activities to grow our momentum of positive change.

1. Look for the Eco-labels in the Diner

As part of the framework outlined by the Global University Climate Forum (GUCF), Students for Sustainability, in partnership with Community Life and Tamimi, have launched a food footprint campaign. Eco-Labels showing the carbon footprint and water intensity needed to create items in the Campus Diner are now visible on several products. There is also helpful information on banners and digital screens. Take a step towards a better future by eating healthier and protecting the environment. Our small collective actions count towards a global impact.

2. Join the #PlasticFree June Campain

Let's all refuse single-use! Keep your eye on our campaign webpage to see our regularly updated exciting events during the whole month of June. Check it out to learn about microplastics and why we should reduce them!

3.  Create Art from Waste!

In celebration of the World Environment Day and to spread awareness about the harmful impact of wastes on our planet, we introduce to you a workshop to learn how to create art from waste – plastic bags. Seats are limited. Register here

4. Watch Chasing Coral at the Discovery Cinema

Chasing Coral taps into the collective will and wisdom of an ad man, a self-proclaimed coral nerd, top-notch camera designers, and renowned marine biologists as they invent the first time-lapse camera to record bleaching events as they happen. Unfortunately, the effort is anything but simple, and the team doggedly battles technical malfunctions and the force of nature in pursuit of their golden fleece: documenting the indisputable and tragic transformation below the waves. With its breathtaking photography, nail-biting suspense, and startling emotion, Chasing Coral is a dramatic revelation that won’t have audiences sitting idle for long. Join us at the Discovery Cinema on Saturday, June 5th,  6:00 pm - 7:30 pm. Seats are limited. Arrive Early.

5. Check out UN Race to Zero Interview: Prof Carlos Duarte

Read a recent article on how to face anxiety due to doom and gloom projections on climate change by our distinguished KAUST Faculty, Prof. Carlos Duarte here. "Fear must not stop us from creating the world we deserve."

6. Commit to Establish a National Sustainability Society

´ôú ´æÑ ´îì
